Microperforated metal sheets

After decades of investments in R&D, Gaudenzi has developed new laser technologies that allow perforating down to a few microns on significant thicknesses.

The uses of these micro-perforated sheets are varied, but the most important sectors are the plastic, pharmaceutical and juices (fruit and vegetable) ones.

Gaudenzi, with its own latest generation machinery, can guarantee a tolerance of just 10 microns.

The company has many micro-perforation laser lines for the plastic sector, although these products are already highly requested in the food, chemical and semi-nuclear sectors (to produce reactor interiors).

Currently the company collaborates with important multinational companies, which can be defined as reference partners after an over ten-year long collaboration.

After years of investments in research and development, Gaudenzi has developed these new laser technologies which allow perforating up to 60 microns on significant thicknesses, even one millimetre.

While with the mechanical perforation it is possible to get very small holes, although not smaller than the thickness of the metal sheet, through laser micro-perforation it is possible to make holes of few microns even on materials of a certain thickness. Gaudenzi also guarantees a high control coefficient with certified instruments.

Gaudenzi’s advantages are to guarantee a tolerance of 10 microns, the absence of burrs and the hardening treatments of the metal sheets. The hardening gives longer durability to the products and guarantees a high evacuation capacity, that ensures a lower processing pressure and a subsequent lower wear of machinery.

The micro-perforated discs are the spearhead of Gaudenzi’s micro-perforation and are the result of years of R&D.

They are important components for different types of plastic extrusion machinery. The perforations and dimensions can be customized according to customer needs.

Another flagship product of Gaudenzi’s micro-perforation is the cylinder for squeezing fruit and vegetables. It is a micro-laser-perforated stainless-steel cylinder, with hole diameters that range from 100 microns to 1000 microns according to the use.

The production consists in two main steps. The first is the perforation and cutting of the raw material with the micro-laser, respecting the areas not to be punched, according to the customer request.

The second step is finishing the product with Gaudenzi’s internal carpentry processes: the piece is first rolled to create a tubular shape, and then it is welded at the ends to close the cylinder. Finally, ring nuts and pins are applied.
